Drainage Mapping VUI can locate and map the drainage system under your greens and fairways providing both depth and precise location. The maps are ideal for finding clean-outs to attach subsurface vacuum and drainage systems. Branches and pipe junctions are clearly identified and the true elevation of the entire system can be measured to confirm a consistent and proper angle for optimum drainage.
Irrigation Mapping Lines can be replaced or upgraded with minimum excavation and disruption to the course.
Engineered Soil Thickness Assessment VUI can measure the depth of the engineered soil layer underneath your greens. We provide a map clearly showing the depths at regular intervals across the green. Areas where the layers are thicker or thinner than ideal can be highlighted.
Topographic Mapping Determine the topography of your greens and fairways. Find low spots where water may collect. Help plan restoration or drainage projects. The maps can also be rendered in 3-D for display on promotional materials, websites or yardage books.
Clogged or Damaged Pipes If you suspect that a drainage pipe has been damaged or clogged, VUI can investigate using our radar systems. Separated pipes and water-filled plastic pipes can often be identified and located.
Utility Mapping (visit our Utility Locating and Mapping Web Site) Locate underground utilities around your buildings, parking lots or entering/crossing your property. Ideal for expansion projects or to minimize disruption or damage when doing any excavation on your property.
Our underground mapping and locating services use advanced 3-D array ground penetrating radar (3-D GPR) technology and software (developed by Geophysical Survey Systems, Inc.). The maps we produce show the located underground drainage lines and other objects in relation to the green edge and nearby surface features such as sprinkler heads/valves, drains or other objects. Each pipe is labeled with its depth below surface. Results can be presented as printed drawings and/or in digital format such as CAD or Portable Document Format (pdf).
The depth of objects that can be mapped with radar varies from 4- 6 feet with a maximum of 10 feet in most soils (may be less in soils with a high clay content or more for sandy soils). Our equipment can safely move across a green without damaging the surface due to its light weight. On average, we can map 3-5 greens per day without closing holes to golfers. If the holes are shut down, 5-8 greens can be mapped per day.
